Former Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) director and Akbayan party-list representative Risa Hontiveros, who is running for senator the third time, filed her COC accompanied by family, friends, and supporters.
Hontiveros said as part of her platforms, she would like to bring the agenda of universal healthcare to the Senate.
“My experience in PhilHealth strengthened my belief that Filipinos, especially the poorest of poor, should have access to affordable and quality medical services anywhere in the country,” Hontiveros said.
As part of LP’s “Koalisyong Daang Matuwid,” Hontiveros also vowed to continue the fight against corruption in the government, especially in the Senate.
Having failed twice before in her senatorial bid, Hontiveros said that she is confident that she will win a senatorial seat this time.
Aside from Hontiveros, former governor of Pampanga and current chief operating officer of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) Mark Lapid is also running for senator under the LP banner.
Lapid filed his COC together with wife Tanya Garcia and father Sen. Lito Lapid, who is set to end his term in the Senate next year.
As his platform, Lapid said that he will focus on improving the tourism industry of the country. He also plans to continue what he has started with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and TIEZA, which includes additional jobs and livelihood for the people.
When asked about his father, Lapid said that he plans to pursue the pending bills of the senator, and to continue to oversee the implementation of Free Legal Assistance Act of 2010 or R.A 9999, which gives free legal services to the poor. The Millennial Post
