Liberal Party drop-out and former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino, eyed a senate seat as an independent candidate last Oct. 14 and stated that he has no hard-feelings against the ruling party.
Tolentino decided to run as an independent candidate after he figured in a controversy involving the sexy dance group ‘Playgirls’ which he allegedly hired as a gift to Laguna Fourth District Representative Benjamin Agarao. He, however, denied the allegations saying that he was just a guest during the party.
In regards with his withdrawal from the senatorial slate of LP, he thanked President Aquino for being open and accepting of his decision.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa Presidente na nauunawaan niya na a single event cannot destroy a person,” he said during the interview with the reporters.
During the filing of COC, he was welcomed by his supporters carrying tarpaulins with “Tulong Tino 2016” and in return he acknowledged by approaching and thanking them for their support.
Tolentino was accompanied by his family alongside Gov. Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla Jr. of Cavite. He said that he submitted his COC with a resume, and complete legislative platform of government.
“Baka ilan lang po ako sa nagfile na naka-attach iyong biodata sa COC, at makikita niyo po na naka-attach din dito ang complete legislative program of government,” he said.
Contained in his platform are reforms on local government units (LGUs), empowerment of women in labor force, healthy citizenry and disaster preparedness and speedy rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, when asked who will be his presidential bet, he said, “nakalagay po dito [COC] independent ako,”and refused to answer. The Millennial Post
