A thunderstorm swept across parts of Southern Luzon last night, flooding many areas and grinding traffic to a standstill throughout Metro Manila.
Torrential rains caused gutter deep floods throughout Metro Manila and ground traffic to a halt, much to the dismay of countless commuters. Some commuters were even reported to have braved knee-deep floodwaters just to get past the snail’s pace traffic.
According to the latest updates from PAG-ASA, the thunderstorm was caused by a Southwestern Monsoon affecting parts of Southern Luzon and Palawan, despite forecasts of possible dry spells and droughts that may strike parts of Eastern Luzon.
Most of Metro Manila was left almost paralyzed by flood and traffic in key areas, especially EDSA and C5 road, caused by last night’s torrential downpour.
While traffic in EDSA was reported to have been relatively lighter in the recent days due to the new traffic management under the Philippine National Police’s Highway Patrol Group unit, the sheer volume of cars last night proved too much to manage.
In today’s PAGASA forecast, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains along with isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Visayas, CARAGA, Northern Mindanao and Palawan. Metro Manila can expect cloudy skies with the possibility of another isolated thunderstorm. The Millennial Post
