After the UST Tigers suffered a devastating loss in the UAAP season 78 Finals against the FEU Tamaraws, another veteran Tiger, Louie Vigil is uncertain about returning for the next UAAP season.
Many were already speculating reasons as to why he won’t be returning next season, Vigil himself clarified that he has yet to decide if he will continue playing for the Growling Tigers next season. “Marami pang pwede mangyari, 1 year pa eh, so hindi ko pa pwedeng i-finalize yung answer ko,” Vigil said.

Despite his satisfactory performance this season, Vigil found himself misjudged as critics were spreading news that he wanted to quit because they didn’t come out victorious this season but that is not the case, he clarified.
Vigil was already thinking of this UAAP season 78 as possibly his last season in the UAAP competitions even before the start of the collegiate season. He stated that there were already conflicts that made him consider quitting. One of these conflicts was about his health, pertaining to the minor injuries he had sustained.
When asked about the last game in the championship “Hanggang ngayon hindi parin nagsisink-in na talo kami,” Vigil responded. He admitted that he gave in to his frustration during the last seconds of the last quarter because he had felt in the first three quarters that they would win the game.
“The first thing I did was pray and look for my mom” he said. He also shared why he’s still indecisive about really quitting and that’s because he feels that he wouldn’t be able to leave any legacy to the team if he stops playing next year and that’s what made it hard for him to finalize any decision.
Vigil also shared what his thoughts were on the leadership of the team captain, Kevin Ferrer; “Siya yung rason kung bakit nandun kaming lahat, saludo ako sa kanya.”
Vigil also expressed his gratitude for the Thomasian community. “Blessed ako na dito ako napunta, sa dami ng napuntahan kong school, dito ako nakapagstay ng matagal, if given the chance to serve ulit dito sa UST, I’ll do it.” Vigil said. The Millennial Post
