The UST Growling Tigers notched their seventh victory after a come-from-behind triumph over the DLSU Green Archers, 81-79, Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum during the second round of the UAAP.
UST stretched its record to 7-1 win-loss card, dominating the tourney alongside the Far Eastern University Tamarraws, who outmuscled the Ateneo Blue Eagles earlier, 66-61.

The Tigers rode on the back of veteran Karim Abdul with 18 points, his best game of the season, while Ed Daquioag sank 17 markers. Kevin Ferrer and Marvin Lee chipped in 15 and 13 points, respectively.
The first half of the game has been a crucial journey for the Tigers, with DLSU dominating the early rounds with 22-21 on the first quarter and 45-37 on the second.
An Abdul spin-move to lay-up shot during the third frame has UST down to three points, 53-56. After several call-outs the Archers extended their lead to 66-59 courtesy of Jeric Teng’s buzzer.
A jump shot by Daquioag during the fourth canto sealed the gap to two points, before Ferrer bounced back to score 66-all.
The Archers kept their grip on leading, but a three-pointer by Lee has the Tigers maintaining their lead by a point, 69-68. A Prince Rivero under-the-basket shot has put both teams 73-all.
With 1:32 left, Louie Vigil intercepts a pass from Teng for a fast-break lay-up, with the Espana-based squad on the lead, 77-73.
Ferrer’s free throws and a shot from the back court by Jeron Teng with less than two seconds left concluded the match to 81-79.
Teng carried the Taft-based squad with 16 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, while Prince Rivero executed 13 markers and seven boards.
The Archers share a 4-4 scorecard with the ADMU Eagles.
