The De La Salle University Green Archers failed to clinch a victory over the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, suffering their second straight loss last Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Despite Jeron Teng’s explosive double-double performance, with 29 points and 10 rebounds, and Julian Sargent’s 11 markers and rebounds, the Archers struggled most of the game as FEU’s Mike Tolomia, Rey Mark “Mac” Belo, Roger Pogoy and Prince Orizu unleashed their A-game performance.
DLSU’s Jason Perkins defence and offence were trumped by the FEU Tamaraws as he ended up producing 5 points from his two out of eight field goals.
The Tamaraws, after their loss from the unbeaten University of Santo Tomas, re-adjusted their focus and bounced back with an overwhelming 18-point lead at the end of the game, 93-75.
Tamaraw Mike Tolomia, who suffered his career-worst turnovers in his previous game, led the charge against the DLSU Archers with 20 points and 5 assists. Bench players Francis Tamsi, Barkley Eboña and Joe Trinidad stepped up in the game as their key players suffered foul troubles.
Proving their renewed game perspective effective, the Tamaraws played a 20-0 run in the last five minutes of the 3rd Quarter, extending the lead from three to 23.
The DLSU squad now stands at 6th place with 1-2 record while FEU shares the 2nd spot with UP, who earlier lost to UST Growling Tigers.
